Position Title: Finishing Carpenter

Division: WR Carpenter Properties

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finishing Carpenter to join our Properties Division. The Finishing Carpenter will be responsible for installing interior and exterior architectural details, fine woodwork and hardware. The role will ensure that all visible surfaces, fixtures and joints meet exact design specifications and building codes.

Key Responsibilities

- Reading and interpreting plans; study architectural blueprints, shop drawings and sketches to
determine layout, dimensions and material requirements.
- Trim & moulding installations; measure, cut, shape and install baseboard, crown moulding, chair
rails, window casings and door jambs.
- Doors and hardware; hand interior and exterior doors, and install finish hardware such as locks
latches, hinges and handles.
- Cabinetry and millwork; assemble, fit and install custom cabinets, drawers, shelving, countertops
and decorative panels.
- Quality control; ensure all installations are level, plumb and square using levels, squares, and lazer
tools.
- Repair and maintenance; inspect, repair or replace damaged wood components, trim or fixtures.
- Job site safety; maintain clean workspace at all times, operate hand and power tools correctly, and
dressed appropriately with the required personal protective equipment such as helmets and vests.

Qualifications and Requirements

- PNG citizen with High School diploma or vocational certificate.
- Must be aged 25+.
- Experience; over two years of hands-on experience in finishing carpentry works.
- Technical skills; ability to read technical blueprints and diagrams, strong problem-solving skills and
knowledge of safety regulations.
- Communication; good verbal and written communication skills is required for coordinating with
suppliers, procurement teams and other departments.
