Position Title: Finishing Painter

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finishing Painter to join our Properties Division. The successful candidate will be a skilled tradesperson responsible for applying the final, high-quality coats of paint, varnish and speciality sealants to residential, commercial or fit out construction projects, and is skilled with focus on meticulous surface preparation, colour precision and delivering flawless aesthetic results.

Key Responsibilities

• Surface preparation; clean, scrape, sand and prime walls, ceilings and modular panel surfaces. Apply skim coating or putty to patch holes, cracks and defects to ensure a completely smooth finish.
• Material mixing and matching; correctly mix, match and thin paints, varnishes, lacquers and topcoats to meet exact colour profiles and technical specifications.
• Precision application; apply paint or specialised, finishes (such as Duco, wood stains, varnish or gloss finishes) evenly using brushes, rollers, and industrial spray equipment.
• Site protection; tape off borders and cover furniture, fixtures, trim and flooring using plastic sheets and drop cloths to maintain a clean workspace.
• Quality inspection; continuously inspect cured surfaces for imperfections such as paint runs, drips, uneven coating, texturizing errors or discoloration.
• Tools maintenance and safety; clean and organize all painting tools, brushes and sprayers. Adhere to site safety regulations and ensure personal protective equipment is used at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

• PNG citizen with High School diploma or vocational certificate.
• Must be aged 25 years and above.
• Experience; over two years of hands-on experience in finishing painting works.
• Technical skills; ability to read technical blueprints and diagrams, strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of safety regulations.
• Communication; good verbal and written communication skills is required for coordinating with suppliers, procurement teams and other departments.
