Steamships Logistics under Steamships Trading Company is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual to manage the procurement of goods and services and each part of the supply chain to ensure consistent delivery of goods and services while identifying possible obstacles that may affect productivity. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Ship Management.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Fleet Procurement Manager to oversee all procurement, vendor management, and store keeping and inventory management for technical shipment management of Consort Express Lines and Pacific Towing fleets with objective of optimizing maintenance costs and improving service availability.

As a Fleet Procurement Manager, your primary responsibilities are as follows;

• Collaborating with other departments to ensure procurement activities support business objectives and developing and implementing procurement strategies that are aligned with company goals and objectives.
• Supplier selection, contract negotiation, and cost management, based on quality, cost, and reliability, working with the business to minimise total cost of ownership.
• Managing the procurement team in Port Moresby and Lae, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are able to perform their duties effectively.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers, ensuring that the best possible terms and conditions.
• Maintaining a strong understanding of market trends and the ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Managing supplier performance and address any issues that arise.
• Developing and implement policies and procedures for the procurement department.
• Preparing and presenting reports on procurement activities and performance.

Required Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
• Worked as Procurement Manager in a large Ship Management company (20+vessels)
• Experience as a surveyor/Auditor
• Experience with advance Fleet Management systems (AMOS,TM Master)
• Track record of driving growth and achieving strategic objectives.
• Proven success and work experience in a cross-cultural environment.

Qualifications and Key Ccompetencies

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
• Class 1 foreign going Master/Chief Engineer
• Strong Technical acumen and strategic planning skill.
• Exceptional communication and team development abilities.
• Deep understanding of good policy, process, systems, and practices across the asset life cycle.
