GELATO CHEF

Location: Six Mile, Port Moresby, NCD

Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time

The Role

Italian Gelato PNG is seeking a friendly, reliable, and punctual Gelato Chef to join our production team. Working closely with the Head Gelato Chef, you will play an important role in the daily production of our kitchen, ensuring every batch of gelato meets the high standards our customers know and love. Hours and days will be discussed and agreed upon with the successful applicant.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce gelato according to recipes and production schedules.
• Ensure all products meet company quality standards for flavour, texture, and presentation.
• Operate, clean, and maintain gelato-making equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
• Follow strict food safety, hygiene, and HACCP regulations at all times.
• Collaborate with the Head Gelato Chef and wider team to meet daily and weekly production targets.
• Manage ingredient preparation, inventory control, and stock rotation.
• Assist with product development and the creation of new seasonal flavours.
• Assist with packaging, labelling, and storage processes to ensure freshness and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must possess a Year 12 Certificate
• Previous experience as a chef, pastry chef, baker, or in a food production environment
• Physically fit with no existing medical conditions (must be able to lift up to 15kg).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Reliable transport and residence within NCD.
• Ability to work weekends if required
