The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Geologist – Resource Development

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Resource Geologist, the Geologist – Resource Development is responsible for advancing the understanding of the mineral resource through the design, implementation and interpretation of exploration and resource definition programs. The role contributes directly to the growth, development and optimization of the resource base, ensuring data quality and integrity for robust geological modelling and resource estimation.

This position works closely with exploration, mine geology and resource geology teams to bridge early-stage geological data with mine planning and production needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, plan and oversee resource definition drilling programs (RC, diamond, aircore, etc.)
  • Manage and ensure high-quality geological logging, sampling and data collection
  • Interpret geological and assay data to refine geological models and mineralization controls
  • Liaise with database administrators to ensure accuracy and integrity of geological data
  • Contribute to 3D geological modelling and support resources estimation processes
  • Collaborate with exploration geologists to identify and prioritize target areas for growth
  • Generate and deliver technical reports, including resource updates, cross-sections and long sections
  • Ensure drilling, sampling and QAQC protocols meet industry and company standards
  • Support compliance with regulatory reporting requirements
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures.

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in resource development, exploration or mine geology
  • Proficient in geological and modelling software ( e.g. Leapfrog, Micromine, Datamine)
  • Understanding QAQC protocols, drilling techniques and estimation principles
  • Strong analytical, communication and technical reporting skills
  • A proactive and safety conscious mindset

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
