We are seeking two competent and flexible individuals within West New Britain Province to fill the vacant positions of GIS Field Officers. These positions are based in Kimbe, West New Britain Province and report to the GIS Technical Officer.

GIS FIELD OFFICER

Job Purpose:

The GIS Field Officer assists the GIS Technical Officer in maintaining the NBPOL Smallholders Affairs database in WNB and the use of GPS machines within the West New Britain project sites. This role also provides support and advise on geo-spatial matters to the GIS Technical Officer, Project Manager and Head of Smallholders Affairs Department.

Main Responsibilities:

• Assist in providing accurate spatial data analysis to GIS Technical Officer and Smallholders Affairs Managers.
• Assist in producing maps and other relevant information for Smallholders Affairs operational needs.
• Assist in maintaining Small Holders Affairs GIS database and provide updated reports to management in a timely manner.
• Assist in any task as requested by SHA management.

Job Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Geographic Information System, Surveying, Environmental Science, or related fields.
• Must have 1-2 years working experience on using handheld GPS and GIS software.
• Experience in using GPS and can create maps using Arc GIS software, QGIS software and MapInfo Software.
• Must be a team player and have good sober habits.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Self-stater and proactive in driving results.
• Physically fit, honest and reliable.
