The Role: More Than Just "Human Resources" Based in the
Lae Head Office, this isn't a "desk-bound" executive role. Reporting to the Pacific Region leadership in New Zealand while partnering daily with the PNG Commercial Director, the successful candidate will be a dual-threat leader: a high-level strategist and a hands-on change agent. You will lead a dedicated team of five, driving a cultural transformation that ensures our workforce is not just "ready" for the future, but actively defining it.
6 High-Impact Responsibilities - Lead Strategic Change: Own and execute large-scale transformation projects, leveraging global digital tools to modernize the PNG people experience.
- Architect Culture: Partner with the PNG Leadership Team to foster a high-performing, inclusive environment where gender equity and social inclusion are non-negotiable.
- Navigate Complexity: Manage the full "people lifecycle"—from talent acquisition and mobility to workplace relations and risk management—within a complex regulatory landscape.
- Coach for Performance: Directly influence and coach the PNG Leadership Team, acting as a critical business partner to align people strategies with commercial goals.
- Build Digital Capability: Transition the People & Culture function into the future by developing the digital and data-driven capabilities of your team.
- Advocate Locally & Globally: Master the "matrix" by balancing global corporate initiatives with the specific environmental and cultural needs of the PNG business.
6 Key Requirements for Success - Proven Senior Leadership: 5+ years of success in a Senior Business Partnering or HR Manager role, ideally within a global matrix organisation.
- PNG Expertise: A deep understanding of Papua New Guinea labor laws, regulations, and the unique challenges of developing markets.
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Psychology, or Business Management.
- Influencing Power: Expert stakeholder management skills with the ability to build "financially sound" business cases that drive growth and profitability.
- Change Resilience: Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation and organisational change in "challenging" or high-pressure environments.
- Growth Mindset: A passion for coaching others and a commitment to the organisation's ways of working; including speed, agility, and a focus on the frontline.
