We are seeking to recruit an Investigator for our SHSR – Investigations Department. Reporting to the Senior Investigator, the primary responsibility of the role is to assist with developing, implementing and maintaining the investigation systems and associated programs in PNG and to assist in the co-operation of investigation and security functions of the Hidden Valley Mining Operation.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Develop, secure and package physical evidence for use in legal proceedings.
• Prepare detailed reports on the observations and activities at a scene for the use in legal proceedings.
• Testify in court regarding the findings and processing methods used at the scene.
• Develop relationships with informants in order to obtain information related to cases.
• Examine records in order to locate links in chains of evidence or information.
• Obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses, or by analysing records.
• Prepare reports that detail investigation findings.
• Analyse evidence in the field.
• Collaborate with other authorities on activities such as surveillance, transcription and research.
• Collaborate with other offices and agencies in order to exchange information and coordinate activities.
• Monitor security programs designed to protect personnel, facilities, and information.
• Testify before juries or magistrates concerning criminal activity investigations concerning Hidden Valley Mining operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• Tertiary qualification in a related field.
• Prior police or mining investigations experience.
• Possess valid PNG’s class 6 driver’s licence.
• Be knowledgeable in aspects of incident control, search procedures, arrest & detention etc.
• Able to write concise reports & statements.
• Must be detailed oriented with strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
• Strong communications skills both written & oral, in English & Tok Pisin.
• High level computer skills in MS Word & Excel.
• Able to plan out work & meet competing deadlines.

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based.
