Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor and the exclusive distributor of Mobil Fuel and lubricants in PNG. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay, and Mt. Hagen, as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.

We are currently seeking for HSE & Administration Officer to be part of our Operations team to be based at our Konebada Depot in Port Moresby. Note: Recent graduates are encouraged to apply

The Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Depot Manager, the HSE & Administration Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing staff safety at work. The main duty is to ensure safety of workers and effectively deliver workplace trainings. Other key responsibilities include:

• Plan and implement OHS policies and programs sent by the HSE Coordinator
• Enforce preventative measures.
• Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations.
• Prepare and present reports on training, accidents and violations and determine root causes.
• Intervenes in the case of unsafe activities or operations being carried out by employees within the workplace.
• Oversee and assist the entire process of accident investigation/analysis.
• Organizes safety training for staff of the depot on a regular basis sent by HSE Coordinator
• Monitors renewal of license and permit for the Depot as required by government.
• Facilitate Depot Admin Work

Candidate Requirements

The person we seek must have the following:

• Minimum Cert IV workplace health and safety, or equivalent (Diploma preferred)
• Eye for detail and strong technical skills
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• A team player with a good personality
• Exposure to a complex retail environment, petroleum industry is an advantage.
• Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
• Neat and tidy appearance
