ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Network)

HBS PNG LIMITED currently operates in numerous mine sites across PNG, both on the mainland and remote island locations. We own and operate one of the largest and best maintained mining fleets in PNG, offering the mining sector a variety of services including road construction and maintenance, haulage, lighting and crushing services and plant equipment hire.

We are taking expressions of interest for experienced mining and mining support experience and trade qualified individuals for ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Network) role for our Head Office, 11 mile, Lae, Morobe Province.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network (On-Prem & Cloud): Design, implement, and manage routing, switching, VLAN, VPN (site-to-site & remote), and network segmentation. Configure and harden firewalls and network devices (Cisco, Fortinet (is preferred), Mikrotik, Ubiquiti) including NAT, policies, and IPS. Manage DNS, DHCP, WAN/SD-WAN, and hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute). Monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning.
• Cloud Infrastructure (Microsoft Azure): Support network integration with Microsoft Azure, also Maintain secure hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-prem environments.
• Monitoring & Automation: Implement monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana). Proactively identify and resolve network performance or stability issues. Automate routine network tasks and configurations where possible.
• Operations & Support: Handle incident, problem, and change management (ITIL). Provide L2/L3 support and maintain accurate documentation. Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance activities when required.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of:

• Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Preferred certifications: CCNA, Fortinet NSE.
• Technical Skills: Networking (TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, routing). Knowledge of network security concepts and best practices. Familiarity with hybrid network environments (on-prem and cloud-connected). Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience: minimum 3 years managing IT infrastructure (network) in on-prem and cloud environments. Hands-on experience with implementation, migration, and troubleshooting.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and documentation. Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.

Preferred Skills:

• SD-WAN and Zero Trust architecture.
• Basic exposure to cloud networking (Microsoft Azure preferred).
• Familiarity with ITIL framework and operational best practices.

Working Conditions:

• On-call support required.
• Occasional travel to data

A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated based on applicant’s experience and Skills.
