ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Server)

HBS PNG LIMITED currently operates in numerous mine sites across PNG, both on the mainland and remote island locations. We own and operate one of the largest and best maintained mining fleets in PNG, offering the mining sector a variety of services including road construction and maintenance, haulage, lighting and crushing services and plant equipment hire.

We are taking expressions of interest for experienced mining and mining support experience and trade qualified individuals for ICT Infrastructure (Server) role for our Head Office, 11 mile, Lae, Morobe Province.

Key Responsibilities:

• Server & Virtualization: Administer Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) including Active Directory, Group Policy, and patch management. Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, including HA/DRS and resource optimization. Handle storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions (Veeam).
• Cloud Infrastructure (Microsoft Azure): Deploy and manage Azure resources (VMs, VNet, Load Balancer, Storage). Implement identity & access management (Azure AD), policies, and hybrid architectures. Optimize costs and enforce security compliance.
• Security & Disaster Recovery: Apply hardening, patching, and TLS certificate management. Support audits (ISO 27001) and vulnerability management. Develop and test Disaster Recovery Plans and failover strategies.
• Monitoring & Automation: Implement monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana) and automate tasks using PowerShell/Bash. Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/ARM templates).
• Operations & Support: Handle incident, problem, and change management (ITIL). Provide L2/L3 support and maintain accurate documentation. Participate in scheduled maintenance and on‑call support when required.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of:

• Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP,
• Technical Skills: Server (Windows/Linux administration, AD/LDAP, scripting), Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), Cloud (Microsoft Azure), Automation (Terraform, scripting), Monitoring tools.
• Experience: minimum 3 years managing IT infrastructure (server) in on-prem and cloud environments. Hands-on experience with implementation, migration, and troubleshooting.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and documentation. Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities

Preferred Skills:

• Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes concept).
• Experience with Microsoft Azure hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise IT operations

Working Conditions:

• On-call support required.
• Occasional travel to data centers or branch sites.

A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated based on applicant’s experience and Skills.
