Summary

The Dog Handler primary responsibilities is to care for the dog while ensuring its safety and comfort and managing the handling of dogs, cleaning their living space, and monitoring their health and behavior. Dog Handler will take dog for posting locations, maintain constant contact with security base on any issues and threats. Report to K9 Team Leader or Supervisor providing daily report on performance of K9.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Walk and exercise dogs according to their individual needs.
  • Monitor dogs for any changes in behavior or health and report to management.
  • Create and maintain an organized cleaning schedule for kennels and outdoor areas.
  • Supervise dog playgroups and manage any conflict between animals.
  • Provide food, water, and medication to dogs as directed by Dog Trainer or Kennel Master.
  • Ensure all sleep, play, and training areas are clean and sanitary.
  • Promptly report injuries, accidents, or medical issues to Supervisor or Kennel Master.

Job Requirements

  • High school certificate or Grade 12.
  • Completion of an approved dog handler training program.
  • Exposure to the security industry and handling of K9s.
  • Proven experience working as a dog handler.
  • Ability to handle different breeds and sizes of dogs.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
