POSITION TITLE: Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Coordinator

LOCATION: KTF Port Moresby Office

TYPE / DURATION: Full time, 12-month contract

REPORTING TO: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Coordinator plays a key role in our Port Moresby office supporting high-quality data collection, analysis and reporting across the organisation. This position works closely with the MEL Advisor and project teams to ensure monitoring systems are efficient, accurate and aligned with project outcomes and donor requirements as we seek to impact lives and futures in remote and rural PNG.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role will be responsible for:

  • Work with the MEL Advisor to ensure timely and accurate reporting on all projects and in alignment with funding agreements and regulatory compliance;
  • Support the end-to-end M&E process across all projects, including coordination of planning, data collection, data management, analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in the design and administration of monitoring tools such as surveys and consultation guides, ensuring alignment with project indicators and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate logistics for data collection, including printing and packaging of monitoring tools, shipment to provinces, and providing technical support for in-field staff and partners.
  • Manage data quality processes including scanning, data entry and validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct data analysis and contribute to interpretation of findings, including preparation of reports and data visualisations and key insights.
  • Contribute to quarterly reporting and the annual Effectiveness Results process by organising and presenting monitoring data.
  • Support in the management of KTF’s monitoring systems in Monday, Google Sheets, and Google Looker Studio (and others as developed/required)
  • Work with project teams to strengthen and streamline monitoring systems and promote consistent data collection practices across sites.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and updating Monitoring & Evaluation Plans.
  • Support evaluation activities, including coordination of fieldwork logistics, preparation of data and evidence for evaluators.
  • Support impact reporting efforts, including managing, collating and filing case studies.
  • Provide training on MEL to partners and assist them with procedures to ensure efficiency of activities.
  • The role may be required to assist with some project support tasks.
  • The role may require assisting the Programs team with safeguarding, GEDSI and other cross-cutting issues.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a relevant field (social sciences, statistics, business, etc.)
  • A can-do attitude with fantastic problem-solving skills and thinks outside the box
  • Team player
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Advanced administrative skills – filing documents, scanning, printing, etc.
  • Ability to manage complex details across multiple projects
  • Ability to prioritise, think ahead, and use time management skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Strong capability with the use of Microsoft Word/Google Docs, Excel/Google Sheets
  • Data Analysis skills – ability to analyse data sets in Excel/Sheets and understand data findings
  • Writing skills – ability to write engaging reports summarising findings, using quotes effectively
  • Familiarity with Dropbox and Google Drive
  • Ability to build a rapport with people and conduct interviews
  • Fluency in English & Tok Pisin – and the ability to translate documents
  • Ability to travel to remote and rural areas of Papua New Guinea.

Desired:

  • Some work experience (casual, part-time, or full-time)
  • Familiarity with survey platforms such as Google Forms, Kobotoolbox, Jotform, etc.
  • Interest or experience in community development or working in the NGO sector
  • Demonstrated research experience
  • Understanding of M&E principles
  • Willingness to work with remote teams in other locations in PNG and Australia

HIRING PROCESS:

As part of the selection process, shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a skills assessment based on a realistic MEL task. This will involve analysing a small dataset and producing a short report that communicates key findings and recommendations. Further shortlisted applicants will then be invited for an interview.

The position is open to applicants based in Port Moresby who will work from our Port Moresby office. Domestic travel will be required from time to time. The position does not include housing or other benefits, nor support for relocation to Port Moresby if the successful applicant is not based there. We will prioritise Papua New Guinean applicants.
