We are seeking a competent and flexible individual to fill the vacant position of Occupational Health and Safety Executive. This position is based in Kimbe, West New Britain Province and reports to the Sustainability Manager.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Occupational Health and Safety Executive is to ensure the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of NBPOL’s health, safety, and environmental policies and practices across all operational sites. The OHS Executive will work closely with both the NBPOL Group HSE and Sustainability Manager to maintain a safe and healthy work environment while aligning health and safety objectives with broader sustainability goals.

Main Responsibilities:

• Implement and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations in compliance with national and international standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
• Support the Sustainability Manager in integrating sustainability goals into health and safety practices, such as carbon footprint reduction, waste management, and resource conservation.
• Provide training and awareness programs on health, safety, and environmental standards to employees and contractors.
• Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics, ensuring that KPIs are met and documented.
• Analyze OHS performance to identify and monitor accident/incident trends, especially targeting high risk / high-cost areas and recommend appropriate risk management strategies to senior and line management, providing them with assistance in their implementation.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections for emergency response drills to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Provide operational support in implementing the agenda set by the NBPOL Group HSE Team, ensuring consistent application of HSE standards across all sites.
• Foster a culture of safety and well-being by promoting employee involvement in safety initiatives and programs.

Job Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in OHS Management or equivalent.
• OHS Certificate IV or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience implementing OSH procedures and projects.
• Experience with Agricultural Operations, Manufacturing or Industrial environment.
• An engaging personality and the ability to communicate with people on all levels.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing workload and prioritizing tasks.
• Ability to think creatively to achieve outcomes.
• An enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
• Being able to work independently.
• Valid PNG driver’s license.
