Job description – Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Coordinator

Job Title: Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator

Contract: Full-time. Starting with 3 months’ probation period

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Scope:

The OHS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the company’s Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) management system to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and internal standards. This role supports the prevention of workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents through effective safety programs, training, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary responsibilities and operational tasks:

• Review and development of the OHS policies and programs
• Lead implementation of OH&S management systems and procedures
• Implement training and coaching programs and execute them
• Promote and facilitate Risk Management Procedures
• Conduct daily site inspections to identify issues, non-conformities, and risk factors on operational procedures and PPEs
• Ensure all the safety equipment, firefighting equipment, and emergency equipment are serviced and updated
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills, identify the risks, and implement the corrective measures
• Coordinate with line managers to promote and monitor the implementation of control measures and action items
• Conduct regular system audits and workplace inspections against OH&S management standards, systems, and procedures
• Carry out the timely and effective notification, reporting, and investigations into incidents to identify the root cause/s.
• Liaise with group HR management and government departments to manage the information flow and process control
• Oversee all the installations, maintenance, and disposal of substances
• Actively demonstrate and promote safe work attitudes and practices
• Facilitate monthly OH&S management review meetings and report
• Provide specialist support to all the visitors and on-site contractors in the areas of OH&S system compliances
• Demonstrate a high level of personal commitment to the “Incident-Free Operations”
• The role demands daily on-site monitoring and conducts OH&S management systems

Qualification:

Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field

Experience:

3-5 years in a similar field
