Position Vacant: Packaging Technician
Function: Supply Chain
Location: Port Moresby
We have immediate requirement for two Packaging Technicians to join our Packaging Team in Port Moresby, reporting to the Packaging Supervisor.
Main duties include:
- Achieve job targets with maximum efficiency, low wastage or losses, and the highest quality.
- Ensure that products are packed in the correct containers (bottles or cans) and labelled appropriately.
- Ensure replenishments of needed materials for machines and define material requirements for the shift.
- Operate and clean the machine correctly according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including start-up and run-out procedures.
- Conduct constant and regular checks on equipment to make sure all functions are within specification and rectify any deviations as soon as possible. Provide feedback and escalate to the supervisor in case of deviations.
- Perform small repairs independently (detagging) and assist the maintenance team in large breakdown repairs during shifts.
- Independently change over the machine and complete cleaning, inspection, lubrication, tightening tasks.
- Technical support during overhauls and planned maintenance days.
- Perform reliable downtime registration, shift handing over notes (as input for the DCS), and write tags.
- Fill in all operational forms in the correct manner.
- Contribute to Breakdown Analysis and can independently make Mean Time Between Assist (MTBA) analysis.
- Participate in Kaizen, 5s teams and execution of standards.
- Conduct checks on raw material or packaging material quality and inform the supervisor if this affects packing quality.
- Conduct quality analysis; Co2 analysis, foreign gas, seamer checks, caustic bottlewasher, Electronic Bottle Inspector (EBI) test bottles, red post, conveyor lubrication check and Packaging Quality Index (PQI).
- Provide timely feedback and escalation on product quality and non-standard conditions.
- Comply with all workplace safety regulations for own and others' safety as well.
Qualification and Experience:
- Must have a degree or diploma in science or technical field preferably Mechanical, Electrical or Chemistry.
- Experience in operating and maintaining similar type of equipment.
