You will be a key public-facing representative of the club, working closely with players, management, media outlets and commercial partners.

In This Role, You Will

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver club events end to end, including match-day activations.
  • launches, sponsor functions, community outreach programs and media events
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with print, broadcast, radio and online media
  • Draft and distribute media releases, statements, talking points and event briefs
  • Coordinate media conferences, interviews and player/executive media appearances
  • Support the club's reputation management, including assisting with sensitive or time-critical communications
  • Manage event budgets, suppliers, venues and logistics, and run post-event reporting
  • Work with the marketing and content teams to maximize coverage and fan engagement around every event

About You

A confident communicator and a skilled event manager who knows how to get people talking about a brand. You're just as comfortable writing a media release on a deadline as you are running a match day or hosting a sponsor function. You build real relationships with journalists, partners and the community, and you're a polished, trusted voice for the club in public and with the media. You're calm under pressure, well organised and quick on your feet. You know PNG's media landscape and its communities well, and you're excited to help the PNG Chiefs connect with fans across the country and beyond.

Qualification

  • 3–5 years' experience in public relations, corporate communications, journalism or event management, with a proven record of delivering successful events or campaigns
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent tertiary qualification) in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field
  • Presentable, polished and well-spoken, with the confidence to represent the club in front of media, sponsors and the public, and to brief senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written English — you can turn a rough brief into a clean media release quickly
  • Calm and dependable in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment; match days and media deadlines don't rattle you
  • Strong understanding of the local media landscape, communities and audiences, with established media contacts an advantage
  • Highly organized, with the ability to run multiple events and deadlines at once
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and match days, with some travel
  • Must have the right to live and work in Papua New Guinea
  • A genuine passion for rugby league and community is a strong plus
