This is an exciting opportunity to help change lives and improve safety!

Role

1. talk to prisoners at-risk of rioting or other violence and help them seek non-violent alternatives;

• work with staff at the prison, PNGCS HQ and Bomana training college on riot prevention and training;

1. identify and train local people to continue to meet with the prisoners at-risk beyond 2027, such as church representatives; and
2. report serious prison violence and risk.

This is a new position. It will be trialled at Bomana Prison. If successful, we hope to add the regional prisons of Buimo, Baisu, Kerevat and Bekut.

Requirements

We are looking for someone:

• Experienced working in corrections or with people who are a risk of violence
• Skilled in behaviour change, risk reduction or counselling
• Trustworthy, reliable and professional

• Computer literate

• Able to work independently
• Based in Port Moresby and able to travel to the regional prisons
