Project Manager

The Organisation:

Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is owned and operated by the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The institution is accredited to the Adventist Accreditation Association, an international denominational authority for all tertiary and graduate educational programs and institutions owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities. The main campus is located on the pristine Koiari Park, 14 miles outside Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The institution was established in 1984. Since then, it has grown from a college of 20 students, to a university of over 1000 students from across the Pacific.

The Role:

Reporting to the Director, Development, the Project Manager will lead the delivery of capital infrastructure projects across the University. The role is essential in ensuring that projects align with the institution’s strategic priorities, support academic excellence, and provide high quality environment for learning, teaching and research. The Project Manager is required to perform the following ‘Core Responsibilities’ listed below.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of infrastructure and capital development projects across the campus
  • Lead project teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure on-time, within budget, and quality delivery
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including academic departments, administrative units, and senior leadership
  • Oversee compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards
  • Prepare and present project proposals, reports, budgets, and timelines
  • Manage risk, procurement processes, and contract negotiations

About you:

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • A degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field or project management certification
  • Proven experience (5+ years preferred) in managing complex infrastructure projects—preferably in a higher education, healthcare, or public sector setting
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools, contract administration, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • A commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusive campus development
