The Opportunity

The Reservations Manager is responsible for leading the reservations function across Holiday Inn Express Port Moresby and Holiday Inn & Suites Port Moresby. This role is a key position within the Commercial Team and plays a critical part in driving rooms revenue through effective reservations management, conversion and reconversion, rate integrity, distribution performance, and strong collaboration with Sales and Revenue. The role supports both Transient and Group business, ensuring enquiry handling, quoting, follow-up, and booking conversion is completed to a high standard, in line with IHG brand standards and property commercial priorities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach and develop the reservations team to deliver high performance and strong guest service.
  • Set daily priorities, manage workload, and ensure coverage across both hotels.
  • Maintain clear standards for response times, quoting quality, follow-up, and booking conversion.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management.
  • Maximize conversion of all reservation enquiries across direct, indirect and group channels.
  • Drive reconversion activity (lost business recovery) for both transient and group enquiries.
  • Monitor booking pace and support the Revenue team with demand trends and pickup insights.
  • Ensure accurate reservation input, correct segmentation, and strong data quality.
  • Support the Sales team with group quoting, rate loading, room blocks, cut-off dates, and group pick-up tracking.
  • Ensure group enquiries are actioned quickly and professionally, with strong follow-up.
  • Coordinate with Conference & Events teams where required to ensure room blocks align with event requirements.
  • Ensure rate parity, correct rate loading, and compliance with pricing strategies set by Revenue.
  • Support distribution health across channels (IHG.com, OTAs, GDS, corporate rates, travel agents).
  • Identify rate issues, mapping errors, or channel problems and escalate for correction.
  • Work closely with the Revenue Manager and the Portfolio Director of Sales and Marketing to support MPI/ARI strategy and daily pricing execution.
  • Partner with Sales on account production, contracting support, and booking optimization.
  • Work closely with Front Office to support arrival management, rooming lists, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with Finance on billing requirements, credit checks, and group payment terms.
  • Produce and maintain weekly/monthly reporting including conversion, reconversion, enquiry response times, and group pick-up.
  • Maintain clear documentation and standard operating procedures for the Reservations function.
  • Ensure reservations handling meets IHG standards and supports a positive guest experience.
  • Maintain professional and consistent communication across all channels (email, phone, portals).
  • Support guest issue resolution related to reservations and booking discrepancies.

What we need from you

  • 3–5 years’ experience in hotel reservations (international brand preferred).
  • Proven experience leading a reservations team and driving conversion performance.
  • Strong understanding of transient, group and long-stay booking processes.
  • Experience supporting Revenue Management strategies (MPI, ARI, RevPAR and rate integrity).
  • Strong knowledge of distribution channels (IHG.com, OTAs, GDS, travel agents and corporate negotiated rates).
  • High attention to detail with strong reporting, forecasting and administration skills.
  • Good understanding of Port Moresby market dynamics, including mining and FIFO travel patterns.
