About Us

The National Development Bank (NDB) is a development finance institution, wholly owned by the state of Papua New Guinea. The bank operates 19 branches around the country and lends to individual Papua New Guineans and indigenous businesses operating in the agriculture and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) sectors.

The Risk Officer will assist in implementing and monitoring the Bank’s risk management framework. Focuses on threat identification and monitoring to ensure organisational risks are proactively managed.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain risk registers, heat maps, and threat logs under the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Conduct risk assessments and scenario analysis to identify emerging threats.
• Monitor risk indicators and triggers and escalate critical issues to the Risk and Compliance Manager
• Support incident investigations by performing risk-based root-cause analysis.
• Prepare risk reports for the monthly Risk Management Committee (RMC).
• Assist in developing risk mitigation strategies and control enhancements.
• Update risk dashboards and ensure data integrity for audit readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years in risk management, internal audit, or operational
  risk. Experience with risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000) and regulatory requirements
• Expert in Dashboard Reporting
• Critical mindset and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to translate risk data into actionable insights.
• Familiarity with risk management processes.
• Proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
