We are seeking to recruit a Senior Expeditor for our Commercial – Procurement Department in Lae. Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor (Lae). The Senior Expeditor will be in charge of coordination, execution and ensuring that procured goods are received on site prior to the required date and to ensure that critical supplier DIFOT (Delivery-in-Full-On-Time) performance remains at an acceptable level.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
• To ensure all purchased stock items are delivered to the supplier on or before the nominated delivery date and to ensure that any defaults on delivery are immediately referred to the respective end -user, the Warehouse & Logistics Superintendent and the Purchasing Supervisor.
• To report in full to the Supply Superintendent, the Warehouse & Logistics Superintendent, the Purchasing Supervisor and relevant customers on a regular basis and pro -actively advise them of any delivery risks or delays that may have a significant impact on delivery schedules and stock item availability.
• To support Logistics with setting priorities for the contracted freight forwarders.
• Key supplier DIFOT performance management and reporting.
• Update and maintain the relevant status information or databases, including Pronto, with current status of all stock PO’s.
• In collaboration with Purchasing, Inventory, Logistics and End-users support the confirmation of specific PO freight mode and nomination of vessel to freight forwarders to achieve scheduled arrival targets.
• Prioritize expediting activities to ensure emphasis on all time critical PO’s.
• Work with end-users to understand and comprehend their specific demand requirements and take action accordingly.
• Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure that delivery details in PO’s are updated to reflect latest confirmed delivery status.
• Engage with suppliers to verify progress of the PO and reports back on status.
• Maintains expediting reports and feedback with all team members.
• Ensure details and accurate reporting of relevant information on time.
• Provide support as required to the Purchasing Supervisor.
• Read, understand and follow policy and procedures.
• Coach customer departments on how they can contribute to increased availability.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
• Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain or Logistics Management.
• Grade 10 & 12 Certificates
• Minimum of 5 years’ expediting, logistics or purchasing experience.
• Sound knowledge in Pronto (or similar ERP) and the full suite of Microsoft products in particular Excel.
• Prior PNG mining industry experience in disciplines such as inventory and/or warehousing
• Excellent interpersonal relationship and conflict management, teamwork and communication skills.
• Understanding of Incoterms.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Remote location or operating environment experience
• Understanding of purchasing, logistics, production planning and inventory management.
• Broad knowledge of both domestic and international freight forwards and shipping agents and the tracking systems they deploy.
The above role is Lae based.
