Woodlark Mining Limited (WML) is engaged in Mineral Exploration and Development of Woodlark Gold Project, MBP, PNG. WML has entered an exciting phase and is now well positioned to invest and unlock the potential of the Project over the next 18 months. The Company is undertaking a comprehensive exploration program of soil sampling, trenching and drilling to continue to advance and grow the Project. With this comes new opportunities to joint WML Exploration Team on Woodlark Island, as we ramp up activities. The following FIFO National role is now available in our Exploration Team.

Senion Exploration Geologist

The Role

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the incumbent will play a key role and lead all field teams, tasked with progressing our exploration and resource development targets from generative to resource stage. Woodlark deposit styles range from low to intermediate sulphidation with limited to data rich targets, hosted in volcanogenic terrain with complex lithologies and structural settings. This role will lead the field teams in exploration and is well suited to a field orientated senior Geologist with diverse experience in the exploration sector who wants to join a well-funded project. Possessing a real passion for exploration and a drive to find the next discovery your skills will lead and support the team to advance several exciting projects on Woodlark Island.

This is a FIFO position working a roster of 4 weeks on, followed by 2 weeks off. Preferred Points of hire are subject to incumbents’ skills and experience.

About the Role:

• Previous experience leading exploration teams and providing proficient geological support and ensuring surface exploration, trenching and drilling programs are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Proven track record of successful exploration projects, including the discovery and delineation of mineral resources.
• Strong technical proficiency in geological mapping, geochemistry, geophysics, and exposure to mining processes with sound interpretative skills.
• Experience managing earthworks, trenching, RC and diamond drilling programs, from planning and execution to data analysis and reporting.
• Working with geological and geochemical datasets to assist in interpretation of trenching and drilling results.
• Providing timely, accurate and relevant drill reporting (daily, weekly, and monthly), and other internal and external parties as appropriate.
• Acting for Exploration Manager and other duties as directed.

About you:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology.
• Previous exploration experience in essential in epithermal gold and Porphyry Cu systems (desirable).
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in mineral exploration.
• Strong leadership capacity in all aspects of exploration, from surface mapping and sampling, trenching, RC, and diamond drilling activities, QAQC implementation and control and rehabilitation.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency in relevant GIS (MapInfo/Discover, QGIS), digital data capture software (desirable) and 3D software. Ability to plan and manage drilling in 3D software (Micromine preferred).
• Production of reports plans and sections (Micromine preferred), and assisting is presentations.
• Good written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communicator, analytical, critical thinking skill and willingness to make a positive improvement.
• Be self-driven and motivated, willing to mentor geologists and field technicians, contribute your ideas in a positive and proactive manner, share your skills and inspiring the team.
• Valid manual Driver's Licence (Class 6) with recent driving experience well regarded.
