Position: Senior IT Engineer

Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Overview: TE (PNG) Ltd is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior IT Engineer to join our Port Moresby-based dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead complex IT projects.

This is a hands-on role, best suited to someone with strong technical experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to take ownership of systems and lead improvements across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud environments.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure continuous availability and optimal operation.
• Implement and maintain security policies and controls to protect IT assets from cyber threats.
• Lead IT projects involving system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business applications and IT services.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to improve IT efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate third-party services as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of server systems support.
• High level of hands-on experience in Windows Server and Virtualization.
• High level of hands-on experience with network Storage.
• high level of hands-on experience with Cisco and similar networking equipment.
• high level of hands-on experience with networking security – Cisco and FortiGate.
• Good understanding of server and storage systems.
• Worked as a Senior Systems Engineer in a team, mentoring and managing a small team comprising of mid-level engineers and junior technicians.
• Managing work priorities, team allocation and providing guidance.
