CreditBank PNG is recruiting a suitable candidate for the role of Senior Recoveries Officer.
The Senior Recovery Officer will be responsible for assisting the Head of AMU in overseeing the recovery process across the team. The role focuses on the direct management of complex recovery accounts while also providing leadership, guidance and support to Recovery Officers to effectively manage all loan accounts in arrears greater than 60 days as referred by Credit Risk for recovery. The position is based in Port Moresby and reports directly to the Head of Asset Management Unit.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee day-to-day recovery activities for complex SME and Large Commercial loan accounts, as may be allocated by Head of AMU.
- Conduct “Take-On” reviews and scheduled quarterly or half-yearly reviews by way of Problem Credit Reporting Memorandum (PCRM) for loans exceeding K500,000, ensuring timely implementation of approved action plans.
- Evaluate Security values and apply appropriate discounts for depreciation and risk exposure for provisioning for write-offs / loan losses based on account performance and recovery prospects.
- Relieve the Head of AMU in the absence of the incumbent and provide support to the Group CRO as required.
- Assist in the provision of monthly reports and portfolio analysis for submission to senior management.
- Liaising with Legal and issuing instructions for conveyancing or for accounts in need of legal remedy.
- Proactively engage with customers to rehabilitate delinquent loan accounts and recommend viable restructuring solutions.
- Commence formal recovery action on all loan accounts remaining in arrears greater than 60 days before the 90 days in arrears is achieved on the loan accounts.
- Address customer complaints and queries promptly and professionally.
- Gather and analyse information to develop long term recovery solutions and implement corrective action plans for non-performing loan.
- Identifying process inefficiencies and contribute to the development of improved recovery and collections procedures.
- Undertaking recovery proceedings and liaising with recovery agencies on aged loans
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching and support to team members in managing their assigned accounts.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records in the AMU shared folders and the core banking system and full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Overseeing the accurate reporting and updating of defaults on Credit & Data Bureau (CDB).
Other duties
- Other duties as directed by the Head of Asset Management Unit or the Group Chief Risk Officer.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
Mandatory:
- Diploma in any business-related discipline; a relevant degree would be highly regarded
- At least 5 years or more experience in a financial institution in collections / recovery roles
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) / interpersonal skills
- Exceptionally strong negotiation skills
- Dedicated to recovering debt that is rightfully owed
- Responsible and understands credit collections guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, database, accounting software
