SENIOR RESEARCH ECONOMIST – ECONOMIC ANALYSIS UNIT, RESEARCH DEPARTMENT

Reports To: Manager – Economic Analysis Unit, Research Department

Location: Lae Branch

The primary role of the Senior Research Economist is to effectively and efficiently participate in the regular research activities of business liaison survey, employment survey, retail price survey, modelling and forecasting, and other related tasks relating to economic research topics to contribute to the overall department objectives. The Senior Research Economist will also lead and manage the unit’s projects and team, ensuring high-quality research output and contribute to strategic decision making. The Senior Research Economist is accountable to the Unit Manager, Research Department.

Education/Qualification/Experiences/Skills/Competencies

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Banking, Finance or Statistics from a recognized institution.
• 5-8 years’ experience in research economist role with some experience in modelling and forecasting.
• Proven to have worked alone or contributed to Research Projects.
• Be familiar and proficient in the use of statistical software such as MS Excel, POWERBI, EViews, R, and similar analytical tools.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), leadership, and interpersonal skills; and
• Appropriate personal and professional experience and characteristics to demonstrate the requisite competencies and values.
