About the role

The Environmental Management Specialist (EMS) is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) at K92 Mine. The role ensures environmental standards, procedures, and controls are current, effective, and aligned with regulatory requirements, international best practice (including ISO 14001), and K92 corporate commitments. The position also leads environmental data governance, including management of historical and current environmental datasets.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the EMS in alignment with ISO 14001, ensuring integration across operations, contractors, and planning processes while monitoring objectives and performance indicators.
• Maintain and update all environmental standards, procedures, work instructions, and forms; develop new documentation where required; and manage full document control, ensuring consistency, version management, and regulatory alignment.
• Manage all environmental datasets (water, soil, air, biodiversity, waste, tailings, rehabilitation, compliance), ensure data quality and integrity, maintain a structured data system, and prepare datasets for reporting, audits, and performance reviews.
• Support regulatory compliance, permit obligations, and environmental risk management; assist in internal and external audits; and track corrective and preventive actions arising from inspections, incidents, and audits.
• Develop and deliver EMS and compliance training, promote environmental leadership across site, and drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and benchmarking against industry standards and best practices.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental science, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in environmental management within mining or heavy industry.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System.
• Strong experience managing environmental data and historical datasets.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS requirements.
• Strong understanding of environmental compliance and monitoring programs.
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification.
• Experience with environmental databases and data analysis tools.
• Strong systems thinking and attention to detail.
• Excellent document control and data management skills.
• High-level analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and across multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.
