About the role

Joining our growing underground gold mine you will provide leadership, direction and guidance for the underground remote technicians, whilst managing the weekly operations and maintenance of the underground radio communication systems.

You will liaise with the Superintendent to coordinate the implementation, maintenance and transmitting of all Radio communications equipment both underground and surface mining area. to monitor, improve and maintain all radio and communication systems in the mine.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Coordinate workshop activities through the Electrical Superintendent.
  • Give direction, delegate tasks and provide technical assistance to subordinates.
  • Liaise with senior Electrical leadership on planned/preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain stock levels and place orders as required.
  • Ensure cost control measures are considered by utilizing resources available to full capacity.
  • Report and rectify any hazardous sightings to the Electrical Superintendent in the 800L Underground.
  • Ensure training and government regulatory requirements are met.
  • Organise and document weekly statutory requirements.
  • Regularly monitors and evaluates staff performance in consultation with Electrical Superintendent (UG).
  • Provide coaching for performance improvement.
  • In conjunction with Electrical Superintendent (UG), takes disciplinary action to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with the Company’s rules, policies and procedures.
  • Responds to emergency situations as necessary.
  • Carry out other relative duties as directed by the Electrical Superintendent (UG).
  • Maintain safety work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policy.
  • Perform all roles and responsibilities that support and reflect the company’s mission and core values.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you

  • Possess Grades 10 or 12 certificate.
  • Tele Communications and/or Communications training certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience on Communications work.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Better understanding of Communications system
  • Broad experience in the installation and maintenance of underground communication systems.
