WAREHOUSE TECHNICIAN

JOB SCOPE

The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, testing, and maintenance of white goods and electronic equipment stored or processed in the warehouse. The role ensures that repaired items meet operational and safety standards before being issued for use, installation, or dispatch. The technician also supports general warehouse operations, including inventory handling and proper storage of equipment.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical & Repair Duties

1. Diagnose, repair, and service white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, air conditioners, and similar appliances.
2. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment, including small appliances, office electronics, and related devices.
3. Perform functional testing after repairs to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and operational.
4. Replace faulty components using approved spare parts and tools.
5. Conduct preventive maintenance to extend the lifespan of equipment.
6. Identify equipment that is beyond economical repair and report accordingly.

Warehouse & Inventory Responsibilities

1. Receive, inspect, and record incoming damaged or faulty equipment.
2. Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records, including fault reports and spare parts usage.
3. Label, tag, and store repaired, pending, or scrap items correctly.
4. Assist with stock counts and inventory management of spare parts and tools.
5. Ensure proper handling, storage, and cleanliness of warehouse areas.

Other Supports

1. Work closely with warehouse staff, maintenance teams, and supervisors.
2. Provide technical advice on repair feasibility and maintenance requirements.
3. Assist with installations or equipment setup when required.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

1. Certificate or trade qualification in Electrical, Electronics, Refrigeration, or a related field (preferred)
2. Minimum 2–3 years’ experience repairing white goods and/or electronic equipment
3. Experience working in a warehouse or maintenance environment is an advantage
4. Strong practical knowledge of electrical and electronic repairs
5. Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals
6. Fault‑finding and diagnostic skills, Good manual dexterity and use of hand and power tools, Basic computer skills for record‑keeping ,Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks, Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

Additional Requirement

1. In excellent physical health.
2. Employment may be subject to passing a medical assessment.
3. Police clearance certificate required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work at heights, in confined spaces, using ladders, climb, kneel and lay flat on back or on stomach. Display strong hand-eye coordination with the physical ability to lift heavy objects, crawl, crouch, kneel, bend, stand/on your feet for long periods of time. Dealing with hazardous objects and in hazardous areas.

OTHER INFORMATION

Working hours - Monday to Friday and once a fortnight on Saturdays. Due to emergencies, work at night, or on weekends may occur from time to time. Working on public holidays may be required if the need arises. Public Holiday is paid accordingly.

Location - Kenmore Properties - 6 Mile Industrial Area

Restrictions - This is position is for candidates who are already permanently living in Port Moresby. This position is open to PNG Citizens only.

Remuneration - Will be commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Probation - Full time employment will be subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three (3) months.
